I never should be allowed to pick what we see at the cinema..

Ah the time had come to go to the pictures again!

It was a long time since I had last been and tonight proved why.

Luckily enough myself and my girlfriend and the "Orange Wednesdays" text code thingy-ma-jig, so its like buy one get one free on tickets for the pictures. This ment that we had to wait in line to buy a ticket from the desk. I don't like this. Its not the queuing or the wait, its the fact I wonder who will annoy me the most, IF, your going to see the same film as me. Alright I also like to use the computer to collect my pre-booked tickets.

Pick and Mix in one hand. Already been to the toilet. Bang on half past 8... Film time! YAY!

Well no not really... Now I know that adverts and trailers come on first to sell me a car or show me the next Oscar winning comedy set in China where the American girl doesn't realise she's offending everyone with handbag dogs and skimpy skirts. After a voyage of self yadda yadda yadda. One question got me though..

When did the advert bit become so long? Did I sit though 32 minutes of adverts?  Another reason that people download films. I was punished for buying a ticket and putting every one in a awkward position it seems by coming to the cinema..

Now after being told I had time to get a coke, The lights went down and the feature presentation came on...... Battle : Los Angeles.

Apart from the fact the lead guy in it is Harvey Dent from The Dark Knight and I didn't realise this till the very end, The film is crap. The usual over the top cheese from the yanks saving us all. Think of it as a bad remake of Black Hawk Down, dash of Transformer and Independence Day thrown in.

To make it worse, it has a predictable plot but your always wondering when the film is going to end.

Not much to say on a crap film..

Geocaching

Sorry about the length of time since the last post. So here is the next.

Geocaching See: Geocaching has been taken up more now that the weather is better. I love the way my love of tech can be mix with the love of the outdoors. The basics are that you use a GPS receiver (whether it be a mobile phone, GPS map unit or a laptop with a GPS receiver)  to find "caches" which are boxes normally lock lid tupperware boxes have goodies inside you trade. The rewards, speaking to the average joe may not seem great, I mean how exactly do you tell someone with the ever exciting weekend at the pub getting hammered never remembering a thing, that I trek to remote parts of Scotland to look for tupperware.

Matter of fact, how can I tell anyone the real rewards? I have seen so many areas of Scotland that amaze me and even though I take photos, no one will understand this until you visit the cache I logged. The enjoyment of being away from it all, or enjoying with a select few do far more for stress issues than getting tanked in a pub. Mind you, having a cold pint after a warm day climbing Munroes is well the cherry on top. So many areas have a visit planned and I don't want to give the game away to early but I will promise you it will be well worth it.

Take this moment to invite you to a talk on Geocaching I'm doing for the Abertay Student Union for the Abertay Open Society on the 24th of March at 7pm. Need more details? Find me on Twitter @hamgammon.
